Wedding flowers

Creating the wedding flowers can be daunting for the floral designer. To avoid stress and strain I would strongly recommend that unless you are experienced only create the table designs for the reception and the place of marriage and leave the intricate, specialized work of wired corsages, headdresses and wedding bouquets to the professional florist. The table arrangements can be prepared at home and delivered on the day and in most cases the place of marriage will allow you to prepare flowers the day before the event.

If you are the bride or the bride’s mother and not experienced in (lower arranging it is probably best to leave the flowers in the hands of friends who are flower arrangers as there are so many other things to concentrate on at this special time. I have taught many future brides to create their own wedding flowers but am still concerned if they plan jo create the reception flowers and those for the bridal party themselves. Deterring them is rarely successful! I only ask that you make sure that you have everything planned down to the last detail and leave nothing to chance.Make a shortlist of no more ilinn three florists that you like the look of. Look at their websites, visit fheir shops and look at their wedding portfolios and price lists. Is their attitude helpful?

Make an appointment with your chosen florist. Take along a swaleh of material from a) the bride’s dress, and b) the bridesmaids’ dresses.

Know your budget. The flower budget for a Jewish and Asian wedding is often considerably more than that for a Christian wedding. Have a plan of what you want and then work with your florisi to see what can be eliminated in order not to go over budget.

The work carried out by professional florists takes time. Quality flowers are never cheap. Do not shop around trying to get the cheapest deal; you will usually get what you pay for. Flowers are an essential part of the wedding but the money allocated to them is often a. fraction of that dedicated to food and wine. I can never understand why.

Be prepared to pay a refundable fee for any serious planning time spent with the florist. Many florists ask for a substantial deposit or payment in full before the wedding.

Kvervthing including linal details should be confirmed in writing two week’s before the wedding and minimal change should be made from this point. This will enable the bride to be sure that everyone is doing the work and she can be worry free.

Flowers in their natural season will be less expensive and probably stronger. However if you want lily-of-the-valley in your wedding bouquet do not plan on getting married in November. If the blue of cornflowers is the only colour that will link in with the bridal dress.
